Richard Connell (1893–1949) was a prolific American author, best remembered for his classic short story “The Most Dangerous Game” (1924), which remains a staple in literature classes and has inspired numerous adaptations in film and television. He began his writing career as a journalist and worked for publications such as The New York American and The New York Evening Post. Connell also wrote screenplays, and was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Story for Meet John Doe (1941).
